Agniveer GD’s written exam, the CEE, draws from one syllabus split across four subjects: General Knowledge, General Science, Mathematics and Logical Reasoning. This page lists what each one actually covers, so you study the right things instead of guessing from old coaching notes. For how the 50 questions are timed and marked, see the Agniveer GD exam pattern.
General Knowledge — 15 questions
The GK section draws from a narrow, repeating pool rather than general trivia:
- India and its neighbours, especially history (heavily weighted towards the freedom struggle), culture and geography
- Who’s who: major historical and current figures
- Sports and major awards
- The Indian Armed Forces: ranks, history, key facts
- The Constitution: how India is governed
- Books and authors, inventions and discoveries
- International organisations
- Current events of the recent period before the exam
General Science — 15 questions
Fundamentals-level physics, chemistry and biology, including:
- The human body: organs, systems, and how they work
- Cells and tissues
- Common diseases: their causes and prevention
This is school-syllabus material, which makes it one of the most reliably scorable sections if you revise Class 9–10 science rather than treating “science” as a vague, open-ended subject.
Mathematics — 15 questions
Also school-level, covering:
- Number systems, HCF and LCM
- Percentages, ratio, averages
- Simple and compound interest, profit and loss, discount
- Time and distance, time and work
- Basic algebra
- Geometry and mensuration
Logical Reasoning — 5 questions
Reasoning is the smallest section by far — five questions against fifteen each for the other three — and, unusually, the official syllabus does not name its topics the way it does for GK, Science and Maths. In practice, past papers draw on standard reasoning types: series, coding, analogy, classification and similar puzzle formats. Treat any specific Reasoning topic list you see elsewhere as a coaching estimate, not an official one, until the notification says otherwise.
How the four add up
| Subject | Questions |
|---|---|
| General Knowledge | 15 |
| General Science | 15 |
| Mathematics | 15 |
| Logical Reasoning | 5 |
| Total | 50 |
That is the written half of the recruitment. The physical half — the 1.6 km run, the beam and the rest — has its own marks and standards; see Agniveer GD PFT and PMT standards.
Syllabus details can be revised between recruiting cycles. Confirm the current one on joinindianarmy.nic.in before you build a study plan around it.
